i have thick frizz prone hair and i live in one of the wettest most humid climates in the world. I know that temp. makes a big difference when it comes to hair irons, but im not sure what temp to look for in a new iron.
i now use a $70 average hair iron that works OK but as as soon as i'm out in the humidity for more than 20 minutes, the frizz starts to come out.
one time at the salon i told my stylist about this and she said the problem was i wasn't using a good enough iron, because an iron needs to reach a certain temperature in order to lock out the humidity. she also said that anything that i spend less than $100 is going to be crap, because the cheap irons just don't get hot enough. i know she wasn't lying because she used her fancy iron on me, and i went out after a rain storm and went dancing and my hair stayed PERFECT for days. on the other hand, i recently bought a $10 iron (it LOOKS fancy and has ceramic plates) but it BARELY gets hot and does nothing to straigten my hair. What max tempterature does a hair iron need to have in order to properly straighten your hair?
a ten dollar flat iron? You just got took for 10 dollars. I know for some people thats not much but really it could have gone towards a better one. That would have been 10 dollars off a 100 dollar flat iron. I just bought a new CHI flat iron and it was 109.00 + 12.00 for the CHI hairspray. I think we have generally the same hair type and I love mine. It works great, and if you think about it, thats really affordable. If you use it every other day or so (washing your hair every other day) then you're going to use it about 183 times. Thats just if you use it every other day, once! thats like .60 cents per use. Thats only if you have it for a year then replace it. I've been going to the same girl for 4 years and she's still using the same CHI iron. The CHI also has a year warrenty, you just take it back to where you bought it if it breaks. It's has Flash Heating so within about 10 secs. it's hot enough to use. Most of the time I just use a thermal spray, no hairspray and my hair stays straight until I wash it. If you're willing to spend the money ask your stylist to order a flat iron for you. If not a chi then maybe the type she uses. Good LuckWhat max tempterature does a hair iron need to have in order to properly straighten your hair?
