Why do hair irons (Chi) make your hair look shinier?

As a hairstylist I can say this as truth. These irons add heat and seal the outer layer of the hair which is called the cuticle layer. The heat and smooth motion and silk molecules of the iron help penetrate the hair shaft and a smooth steady motion create a smooth shiny look. Be sure to learn how to do the smooth movements otherwise you can burn your hair. Also is you hair is of a fine texture...use the lowest setting as we fine haired girls don't need the highest or hottest setting. I am posting a link for you to check out. Good hair days to you!

Because when the heat touches the hair its doing exactly what it says IRONS it so all the ends flatten together so it doesn't look as you have split ends , even if you do . And the shine comes from your natural hair oils i believe .

Hope this helps .
