How dangerous is a hair straightener or hair iron?

it isnt really good when u straighten ur hair or iron ur hair like everyday. it damages ur hair. my hair is naturally wavy and i have never ever straightened it or ironed it. sometimes it gets on my nerves but just be happy with ur natural hair.How dangerous is a hair straightener or hair iron?
very! i agree that it depends on the condition of your hair, but you would have to have the most healthy hair on earth for it NOT to damage your hair. if you have really, really curly hair, i don't think iron is an option at all.





there's always chemical straighteners (not relaxers!! they're worse than ironing!), but the straightening creams. you have to apply them very often, but they do little to no damage to your hair.

You get what you pay for in a hair straightener. I recommend using a CHI iron. It is pricey, but worth every penny. Use a leave in product to help protect your hair. Chi irons heat up to over 400 degrees so don't hold it in one place. I like to think of irons in terms of cooking a good steak. Very hot irons help seal moisture in, while cooler irons are like slowly baking a steak, it dries them out. Keep running the iron through the hair until its smooth. This is WAY LESS DAMAGING than any chemical treatment. Good luck.
it depends on the condition of your hair. it's not good for your hair by any means, but, won't cause excessive damage to healthy hair. i'm a slave to my straightener!!!!!!!!
