Try a scratcher pad- like you do dishes with- and warm or hot water. In the late 80's I used this method to clean my curling irons. I had to do it twice a week, because I used a whole can of hairspray every week. The scratcher effectively scratches off stubborn goo, and the hot water works better than plain water because it penetrates the goo easier on a molecular structure. Good luck!Help with cleaning hair iron?
use alcohol on a piece of cotton to dissolve hair products on iron.
try finger nail polish remover
Mine was so bad one time, soap and water wouldn't do it. I used a sos pad and it cleaned it very well. Didn't hurt the iron either. It wasn't on.
