Chi all the way,
I love my Straightener.
it's a remington wet 2 Straight. I got it at walmart for $28. I have naturally curly hair and it works great for me. I don't use while my hair is wet tho even tho it says you can. But it is a good one.

its the last one, ';TIGI Hardcore Turn Me On Flat Iron';
lol @ the name. but it's amazing, and ive had mine for like 8 years.
PS: i don't know if this is the best website to buy it from... might wanna try amazon or something.
the best straightener ive ever tried is chi, but those are outrageously expensive. so i think your best bet is to go to sally beauty supply. they have great options and their employees will help you also. they have a big range of prices, and I got one that is about 70 and it is really good. I've had it for about a year and a half. its a helen of troy.
also for picking one out, the advice ive been given the most is get a thin one instead of the big, wide plates. the wide plates cause bulkiness, more weight, and give you no advantage when straightening. The skinny ones let you get closer to the root without burning yourself and better maneuverability (lol is that even a word)
also, ive heard ceramic plates are best over titanium ones as they get just as hot and cause less damage to your hair.
do not think you can get away with $20 straighteners. with straighteners, you get what you pay for. so go for at least over $50 as a rule of thumb (unless its just a sale on a great straightener, but be careful. some are on sale for a reason)
so good luck. i hope my advice comes in handy
They come in all different shapes, weight, materials and sizes. However, it is what the actual plates are made of that essentially differentiates the types on the market. Traditionally, the plates were made of metal. These were then superceded by gold-tone metal plates. But these days ceramic - and lately tourmaline - flat irons are the most popular. If you're buying a flat iron, you should only buy one that is made with ceramic or tourmaline parts.
A ceramic flat iron is far better than the gold-tone metal ones that came before. There are two reasons for this. The first is that ceramic is incredibly smooth so hair is not tugged, caught or pulled, which makes using a ceramic hair straightener easier and the end result much better. Secondly, heat is distributed evenly over ceramic - not so with the older metal plates - and there is less chance of hair being burned when using a ceramic version.
Most manufacturers now produce tourmaline versions. Tourmaline is a silicate - a type of crystal. Manufacturers now 'infuse' tourmaline into the ceramic plates and other parts of the flat iron. Tourmaline produces up to 6 times more negative ions than does ceramic.
So why are negative ions important when using a tourmaline flat ion? Negative ions close the cuticle layer to create a smooth , silky hair surface and seal in the hair鈥檚 natural moisture. This provides ultimate shine, color and moisture protection for hair. Negative ions also eliminate static electricity on the hair surface so hair is left silky and frizz-free!
Some brands come with something called Far Infrared Heat. This new technology penetrates the hair to heat it gently from within, creating a different type of heat that doesn鈥檛 heat the air. Instead, heat is delivered directly to the hair shaft so hair becomes more supple and can be worked quickly and easily. Because less heat is delivered to the surface, hair is not damaged.
Finally, most flat irons should only be used on dry, clean hair. However, some are now designed to work on either dry or wet hair - often referred to as Wet-to-Dry flat irons; so hair is not further damaged by first blow-drying it.
Many of them come with different settings for different types of hair. Basically, the more curly the hair, the more heat is required to make it straight. Also, the ceramic plates come in different widths, from 3/4'; to 3-inches. Thinner plates are more suitable for thin hair, whereas thicker plates are more suited to thick or curly hair.
use JML ceramic/metal flat iron. It's been with me for 4 years now. It is very durable and easy to use.
I use one, too, and have wavy, naturally frizzy hair, if I it dry by itself. My hairdresser says that the best ones are made of tourmaline (sp?). The price range really varies. Hers is like $250, but I found one at Walmart for a decent price ($30) and I love it!
DONT GET THE CHI!
Remington wet2straight. It's not expensive at all at about $25 and it has 30 heat settings for any type of hair. Also it can straighten your hair even if it's wet.
The best website to find a good straightening iron is www.folica.com I got my straightner last winter from there. They offer a wide selection of brands from ghd to chi to solia. You can browse through each one of them and see customer reviews as well. It is a well reputated website and right now they have some promotional deals going on right now as well. If you haven't used one before a CHI falt iron would be good, you don't have to deal with setting a heat it will heat up to temperature that is good for your hair. It is also not to expensive compared to the GHD which is a higher brand. I purchased the 1 and quarter inch solia flat iron with the cremaic tourmoline plates, and i can say i am very pleased with it. I use it on a regular basis and it works great.
GHD! It has automatic temperature control. It adjusts to your hair's texture. I have gone through 3 Chi's in 3 years.. They break easily and I have had my GHD for almost 3 years now.. I LOVE IT! They are a bit expensive, but just google them and compare and check out prices.
i heard chi was really good.. but personally, i have ';herstyler'; they sell it at sum malls.. for like $80..
it has been working ok so far.. and ive been using it for like a year already~
