What kind of hair Iron would I use to Style my hair like This?

I have long layers, and I want to do something similar to this (how the layers don't lay flat and sort of curl up at the sides):

Would I use a straightener and just curl it upwards to angle the layers in that direction, or would I use a curler and curl them at the bottoms?

You can actually use a straightner for it. If I were you I would use a straightner. I have an amika straighter so check this out. I provided you with a link below to show you what you can do with a straightner and maybe it will give you a sense of an idea on what you are looking for.
