Dippity-Do for women and Grecian Formula for Men. These were early, and badly done, forms of gels. Also, aerosol hair sprays that blew the hole in the ozone. AquaNet is the only one I can think of. These were not products but were popular ways to change your hair - women who wanted the wild curly/kinky hair would braid it in two braids when it was wet, sleep on it overnight, and in the morning they had cool, frizzed out hair. ( I did it) Women with curly hair got the straight hair look by ironing it on an ironing board. (My sister did that.) She also would put her hair up in one pony tail at the top of her head, then divide it in two pieces, rolling each section over frozen orange juice containers to straighten it. (Yes, they were empty.)
1) frozen orange juice cans for really big rollers and some bobby pins to fasten hair to the rollers
2) clothes iron to straighten curling hair
3) rat-tail comb
4) bonnet hair-dryer
5) Dippity-do styling gel

my favorite shampoo back in the 70 was ';body on tap';...it had beer in it. They dont make it anymore? I remember it smelled good.
