What and where can i find a adapter or volt converter to take to india so i can use my hair iron from the us?

India uses the British system of electricity and voltage standards. so that means you will need to carry a converter that converts electricity to 230 volts supply standard. Gadgets in the US use the 110 volts standard.

Therefore you will need to carry a converter that will convert a 230 volts input current to a 110 volts output current.

Radioshack has those converters and they also have capacities on that, example being you need a smaller capacity converter for a camcorder but if you need to use a hair dryer you will need a large capacity converter.

So ascertain which gadgets you exactly wish to use and then get the appropriate capacity converter. What and where can i find a adapter or volt converter to take to india so i can use my hair iron from the us?
As Bill P said, any electronics store will have the converter you need (you do need one) and the correct plug adapter. Be sure to get one that will support up to 1600 watts; also be aware that you can't use it for a really long time.

To be completely safe, you could get a transformer; however, they're very heavy. What and where can i find a adapter or volt converter to take to india so i can use my hair iron from the us?
Well, u'd get it from best buy, future shop probably. Try factorydirect.ca

If ur going to Mumbai, then you can buy it from there... but I aint sure of other cities.
When I travel internationally I usually go to an electronics store. Radio Shack, Best Buy, or Circuit City will have adapters. An adapter does not provide total protection for your appliance. If you buy an adapter that allows you to plug the appliance into the outlet without a transformer you can still damage the appliance.
