Voltage converter for England (hair iron)?

I';m going to London in a few weeks and I have a flat iron for my hair. last time i tried with a regular voltage converter it blew the circuit. is there another way or should i just buy one once i'm there.Voltage converter for England (hair iron)?
I've used a voltage converter and a regular adapter before and it's worked okay, but not great. I found that it would overheat and burn for a while, then end up not working at all.

The voltage converter you used, did it have two settings on it? I have one that had a setting for lower and higher voltage. I think you use the higher one for things that heat or use more power, like a hair dryer or a flat iron, and the lower one for charging your cell phone.

However, I did end up buying a flat iron (you can get them for as cheap as 拢10 at www.boots.com) because it worked so much better.

Hope that helps a bit.Voltage converter for England (hair iron)?
Would this apply for Italy as well? Do they use the same voltage do you know? Thanks!
